Well, just read another rumor that the new Patrol will now have a V6 Diesel from Renault, specs wise, it doesnt sound too bad…Heres hoping its a bit more reliable than the ZD30
Specs are:
V6 3.0 Litre dCI – 195Kw @ 4000, 550Nm Torque @ 1750rpm
With the torque that low, it could be a winner.
Theres a bit more of a write up about it HERE

Was reading a article here, on the ‘drive‘ blog about the VIC Goverment perhaps copying a law from the states, that forces car makers to replace your car if you get a ‘Lemon’ the definition of this being that if you experience the same major problem with the car 4 or more times and they cant fix it…then….new car.
Anyway, have a read, let me know what you think.

I cant say im a fan of Nissan ditching the faithful Td42t and replacing it with the ZD30, which, in Australia anyway, has had a very checkered past, with multiple reports on engines destroying themselves.
And surely these engines are going to generally see a harder life in a ute, which could mean even more bad news, i think this could be a bad move by Nissan, they need to ditch the ZD30 and get themselves another, better engine very quickly. Something to compete with the current stock of high tech, but reliable Diesels out there.
Something…..V8…and Turbo’d

Well, Jim and I went to Emu Creek some 4wd Monthly Forum members on the weekend, Emu Creek is about 3 1/2 hours drive from Brissy.
On the way there we went the ‘back’ way i guess and ended up having to rescue a car that had taken a corner to fast on the dirt and ended up in the bush…narrowly missing a decent size tree. Jim just pulled slowly tugged hiim outa the bush, we made sure his car was still ok drive, and let him go on his way back to brisbane.
Once we got the Emu Creek, we setup camp (I got to test out my new Instant Tent, which i sell now BTW, and then found a couple of the 4wdMonthly lads and headed out for some 4x4ing. The park really hasnt seen much use for a while, because most of the tracks were overgrown and looked very ‘fresh’. After a while of driving around the park, a crazy old dude (Errol) that came with us decided he wanted to do a creek run that wasn’t on the map. Was a very entertaining run with nasty side slopes and LOTS of rock…… Until… On a particularly tricky bit, Jim managed to pull one of his front radius arms OUT of the chassis!!
We manged to get it drivable quite quickly i think, we pretty much just jammed the radius rod back in the hole and used a ratchet strap to hold the front axle back so it wouldnt pop out again. Jim then did one his best drives ever and pushed through the creek out to the road heading back to camp.
We then spent a couple hours welding Jims and Chris’s (4wd Monthly member with a Jeep Wrangler) cars back together.
Jim and I pushed off on Sunday morning, it was a quick trip, but still very fun!
